Lewes, DE -
National Geographic Division, Evergreen Colorado and Cape Gazette newspaper have announced the release of the first ever recreational tourism map of the peninsula for the 2004 Holiday Season.

The map encompasses Delaware's New Castle, Kent and Sussex counties, Maryland's Eastern Shore to Ocean City down to the southern tip of Virginia's Cape Charles.

The Trails Illustrated name is well-known at outdoor/camping establishments nationwide for the superior quality of its national park maps. These maps typically focus on "hiking and biking" trails throughout parks, forests, wetlands, and mountains. The maps are popular with the public because they are topographical, waterproof, tear-resistant, and revised regularly.

The new Delmarva Peninsula map is especially noteworthy to recreation-oriented tourists because of its many firsts: the map's coverage area is much broader than a national park map; the graphics and colors are more informative and intense; and the map is printed on a breakthrough "hop-syn" stock for better portability and lasting finish.

Some of the map's best features include: parks, forests, waterways, greenways, beaches/surf, wildlife preserves & refuges, ramps & nature centers. It also indicates recreational activities (such as fishing, trails, riding, picnics, etc.) for each of these locations.

The publishing collaboration was initiated by the Cape Region publisher Dennis Forney, whose commitment to the beauty and benefits of the great outdoors is a local standard. "This map will help orient you to not only our numerous and various recreational outlets, but it will also restore your appreciation for nature, if not bringing a 'rejuvenation' from your urban confines."

This map can be obtained by phoning (302) 645-7700 and asking for the Delmarva Peninsula Map, or by ordering below.
