Coastal Delaware Events and Happenings for June 9-11

June 7, 2017

Greetings everyone and welcome to your home online for all of the fun and exciting things happening each week at the Delaware beaches.

We hope you're having a great Summer of 2017 so far here in the coastal region - and we're really just getting started!

There are so many great things planned for the rest of the summer season and, as always, our "Weekender Blog" here on theoldfathergroup.com is the place to stay "in the know" for everything that's happening in coastal Delaware.

As we do every week, we have some great options for you this weekend in the coastal region, ranging from Lewes and Millsboro all the way to a great annual event in Ocean City, Maryland.

And don't forget the 2017 debut of the always fun and popular Movies on the Beach programs, held every week between now and the end of September in both Dewey Beach and Bethany Beach.

Here are our top six choices for fun and exciting happenings at the Delaware beaches for the weekend of June 9-11, along with the return of the Movies on the Beach programs on Monday, June 12.

Which is where we're going to begin...

Movies on the Beach (June 12). These popular summertime events return next Monday in both Dewey Beach and Bethany Beach. Held every Monday night during the season, these family friendly movies are fun for everyone.

Movies will start at approximately 8:30 p.m. on the beach at Dagsworthy Street in Dewey Beach and Garfield Parkway in Bethany Beach. This week's selections are "The Lego Movie" (Dewey Beach) and "The Wild Life" (Bethany Beach).

Lavender Festival (June 10). This Saturday marks the second year for this festival, held at Warrington Manor near Cool Spring. There will also be a 15th anniversary party, complete with lavender lemon cade and lavender ice cream.

The festival is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and there is no admission charge.

Activities for the festival include demonstrations, exhibits and informative lectures that will be held throughout the day. There will also be live music and many other goodies, including lavender lemonade, lavender ice cream and lots of baked goods, as well as hamburgers and hot dogs.

For more information, visit Lavender Fields online or call 302-684-1514.

SUPS with Pups (June 10). From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. this Saturday, Milton Memorial Park will play host to the 2017 version of the always fun SUPS for Pups event. Held in support of the Delaware SPCA, the event will include paddle boarding clinics for dogs and their owners, paddle board demonstrations and several pet friendly vendors.

There will also be adoptable dogs from the SPCA on-site for the event, and rumor has it that some of these pups will even jump on the paddle board with you for a trip down the Broadkill River.
