Daily Meditation Practice

Swami Nirmalananda, my teacher, says “Your persistency will pay off in yoga, just as it does in any arena of life, but the payoff is better because it makes every other arena of life more fulfilling. This comes from your inner knowing of your Divine Essence.”

Athletes are well known for their diligence and persistency in training. We understand that to get to the top of your profession or anything that is important, you must be diligent and persistent. This is true in meditation as well – to succeed in meditation, you need a diligent and persistent practice.

For those of you who have been doing yoga, especially those who practice Svaroopa® Yoga, remember how you felt after your first yoga class. You loved how you felt afterwards. You were told that if you included yoga poses into a daily practice, your body will feel better and your mind will be less active. You were also told that a diligent practice will make a positive impact on other areas of your life.

This is especially true of your meditation practice. The practice of quieting your mind is the path to finding your inner divinity. To get the full benefits of meditating, you will need to have a daily meditation practice – a diligent practice with discipline and consistency. Your body will feel healthier – your mind will become clearer and quieter. This will carry over into other areas of your life – you will be able to function ever so much better in all aspects of your daily life.
