Free Movie "Top Gun" this Thursday in Lewes Canalfront Park

Bring your blanket or lawn chair and maybe a picnic for the free Cinema by the Canal series. The 1986 classic “Top Gun” will be shown this Thursday July 27 at dusk (approx 8 pm) in Lewes Canalfront Park, located at 211 Front Street in Historic Lewes on the banks of the beautiful Lewes-Rehoboth Canal. The movie, known for its heart-stopping aerial scenes, is free thanks to the support of Citizen's Bank and Friends of Lewes Canalfront Park.

Devil-may-care Navy pilot Maverick played by Tom Cruise is sent for advanced training where he vies with for the coveted "Top Gun" award. When not so occupied, Mitchell carries on a romance with civilian consultant Charlie played by Kelly McGillis. Shaken up by the death of a friend, Maverick loses the Top Gun honor. Thinking he may have lost his nerve, Maverick is given a chance to redeem himself during a tense international crisis involving a crippled US ship and a group of enemy planes.
