Prana and energy

Your mind changes when it comes under the influence of the Self. Saying mantra propels our mind toward consciousness. Saying mantra takes you to meditation. In that deep meditative state, all your senses come under the influence of your own true Self. One of the senses that your deep meditative state enhances is your energy – called prana or life force.

There is an upward rising energy within us. It is something that is ready to emerge, to explode within us – but we hold it down – consciously and unconsciously – sometimes even physically.

The upward rising energy within us is constantly striving to erupt starting at the base of the tailbone upward through our spine. In yoga, we use poses to open the spine to relieve the physical tensions in your body which blocks the flow of energy. These blocks are powerful and are the ones you create with your own mind and emotions.

In other words, once you get enough release at the tailbone, a profound current of energy begins to flow through your spine. In the beginning, it is a periodic surge that works on dissolving the blocks you had so carefully installed. As you open more and more, it becomes a continuous flow.

Your spine is also the “conduit of consciousness.”  The prana or energy is always striving to flow and push through your blackness – expanding your knowing of your own being. Our prana or life force continues to climb up your spine – opening the blockages you have collected over the years and even over lifetimes. This upward rising energy has a name called Kundalini. It is in you, fighting to move up your spine to propel you to the knowing of your Self, propelling you toward consciousness.

Life affects how slow or fast your prana is flowing – happy/content it is flowing faster – slows down when you are tired. Kundalini – your upward rising energy –– makes you feel light and happy. As long as you are having movement, Kundalini is still working on your mental and emotional blockages that we all have.
