Steve Jones - Tales of a Sex Pistol

- Private group -
January 9, 2017

Ask anyone who knows about music and they'll tell you: without Steve Jones, punk rock would not exist. This is not hyperbole. The prototypical street-urchin-turned-Sex-Pistols-guitarist was the inspiration for and creator of the punk movement, which started shaking the culture in late 1970s London and is just as strong today.

Lonely Boy presents never-before-told stories of an abused boy who was neglected by his mother and stepfather and abandoned by his biological father. It chronicles the petty crime and anger of his youth, which fueled the musical onslaught to come, the meteoric rise of the Pistols, the role of impresario Malcolm McLaren, and how a band with one album defined a generation and changed history.

Lonely Boy educates people on where it all started, straight from the guy who inspired the whole scene.

About Steve Jones: Steve Jones formed the Sex Pistols in 1972 with friends Paul Cook and Wally Nightingale. After the band broke up in 1978, Steve and Paul formed a new band called The Professionals. When they split up in 1982, Steve decided to stay in the US. He relocated to Los Angeles and became an in-demand session guitarist and released two solo albums between 1987-89. Steve returned to the music scene in the mid-90s with the Sunset Strip supergroup Neurotic Outsiders, featuring Duff McKagan and Matt Sorum of Guns N Roses and John Taylor of Duran Duran. Jones later found what he describes as his first proper job as a DJ on Los Angles-based Indie 103.1 FM. Jonesy’s Jukebox began airing in 2004 and proved so popular it was soon made a permanent daily fixture. After leaving Indie 103.1, Jonesy’s Jukebox resurfaced in 2010 as a weekly Sunday night show on LA’s KROQ. The show features unreleased tracks from indie bands, b-sides, songs from bands that are bubbling under, classics, and cuts from his personal music collection. Jones lives in Los Angeles.
