This trip Departs From The Lewes Ferry Terminal
New for the summer of 2017, Cape Water Tours and Taxi introduces the East End Lighthouse Tour. During this NARRATED tour, passengers will learn about the rich maritime history of this impressive structure AND will be able to walk around and through it to explore and photograph it up close.
This infamous beacon was placed permanently on the east end of the breakwater at Cape Henlopen in April, 1885. Since that time, the East End Lighthouse has stood firmly through everything the Atlantic Coast could throw at it. Today, it and the Harbor of Refuge Lighthouse are the treasures seen by visitors to Delaware when exploring the Southern Delaware coastal region. The picture on the right is the East End Lighthouse in 1925 and provided courtesy of the US Coast Guard.
The East End Lighthouse Tour will provide visitors and residents with the historical perspective of the Lighthouse and the surrounding area. Simultaneously, they will experience the pleasure of a vacation activity exposing them to the panoramic views of the Lewes shoreline while enjoying a comfortable, safe cruise on the calm and beautiful waters of our Delaware Bay. The picture on the left is the lighthouse at sunset, provided through the courtesy of photographer Kevin Bristowe.
