‘Julius Caesar’ play broadcast to be screened April 14, 16, 17
The Rehoboth Beach Film Society announced "Julius Caesar" is the next play in the series of National Theatre Live screenings that present the best of British theater live from the London stage on film to cinemas around the world.
Caesar returns in triumph to Rome and the people pour out of their homes to celebrate. Alarmed by the autocrat's popularity, the educated élite conspire to bring him down. After his assassination, civil war erupts on the streets of the capital.
Nicholas Hytner's production of "Julius Caesar" will thrust the audience into the street party that greets Caesar's return, the congress that witnesses his murder, the rally that assembles for his funeral and the chaos that explodes in its wake.
Ben Whishaw and Michelle Fairley play Brutus and Cassius; David Calder plays Caesar and David Morrissey is Mark Antony. Filming takes place at The Bridge Theatre, London.
Screenings will be 12:30 p.m., Saturday, April 14; 12:30 p.m., Monday, April 16; and 6 p.m., Tuesday, April 17, at the Cinema Art Theater, 17701 Dartmouth Drive in Dartmouth Plaza behind the Lewes Wawa. Admission for National Theatre Live is $18 for film society members, $20 general admission and $15 for ages 16 and under. Online reservations are encouraged and may be made with MasterCard or VISA.
