‘Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?’ live play screening to open Dec. 16

December 14, 2017

The Rehoboth Beach Film Society has announced the next play to be screened in National Theatre Live screenings, the groundbreaking project that presents the best of British theater live from the London stage on film to cinemas around the world.

Sonia Friedman Productions will present James Macdonald's new production of Edward Albee's landmark play, "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" From the Harold Pinter Theatre in London, the play stars Imelda Staunton, Conleth Hill, Luke Treadaway and Imogen Poots.

In the early hours of the morning on the campus of an American college, Martha, much to her husband George's displeasure, has invited the new professor and his wife to their home for some after party drinks. As the alcohol flows and dawn approaches, the young couple is drawn into George and Martha's toxic games until the evening reaches its climax in a moment of devastating truth-telling.

Screenings will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 16; 1 p.m., Monday, Dec. 18; and 6 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 19, at the Cinema Art Theater, 17701 Dartmouth Drive in Dartmouth Plaza (behind the Lewes Wawa). Admission for National Theatre Live is $18 for film society members, $20 general admission and $15 for ages 16 and under.
