‘Like Crazy’ opens at Cinema Art Theater Aug. 25

August 23, 2017

Starting Friday, Aug. 25, the Rehoboth Beach Film Society's Cinema Art Theater will present “Like Crazy,” a drama about two mismatched travel partners on the lam from an Italian psychiatric hospital.

Beatrice, played by Valeria Bruni Tedeschi, is a motor-mouthed fantasist, a self-styled billionaire countess who likes to believe she's on intimate terms with world leaders. Donatella is a tattooed introvert, a fragile young woman locked in her own mystery. They are both patients at the Villa Biondi, a progressive but secure psychiatric clinic. Paolo Virzì's new film tells the story of the unpredictable and moving friendship that develops between the two women as they flee the mental institution in search of love and happiness in the open-air nuthouse - the world of sane people.

Screening times are 4 p.m., Friday, Aug. 25; 7 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 26; 4 p.m., Sunday to Tuesday, Aug. 27 to 29; 1 and 7 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 30; and 7 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 31. Tickets can be purchased at the Cinema Art Theater starting 30 minutes prior to each screening. Admission for a screening is $8 for RBFS members and $10 for nonmembers. All screenings are held at the Cinema Art Theater, 17701 Dartmouth Drive in Dartmouth Plaza behind the Lewes Wawa.

The mission of the RBFS is promoting cinematic arts and providing education and cultural enrichment for the community. The film society sponsors ongoing screenings, special events, and the Rehoboth Beach Independent Film Festival (Nov. 3-12).
