‘The Party’ opens at Cinema Arts Theater March 16

March 13, 2018

Starting Friday March 16, the Rehoboth Beach Film Society's Cinema Art Theater will present “The Party,” an incisive comedy about a dinner party where the fault lines in the lives of a group of well-heeled friends are shockingly revealed.

In Sally Potter's new dark comedy The Party,” Janet (Kristin Scott Thomas) is hosting an intimate gathering of friends in her London home to celebrate her political ascension, while her husband, Bill (Timothy Spall), seems preoccupied. Janet's acerbic best friend, April (Patricia Clarkson), arrives and others follow, some with their own dramatic news to share. But an announcement by Bill provokes a series of revelations that gradually unravel the sophisticated soiree, and a night that began with champagne may end with gunplay.

Screening times are 4 and 7 p.m. March 16; 7 p.m., Saturday, March 17; 3:30 p.m., Sunday, March 18; 1 p.m., Wednesday, March 21; and 1 p.m., Thursday, March 14. Tickets can be purchased at the Cinema Art Theater, starting 30 minutes prior to each screening.

Admission for a screening is $8 for RBFS members and $10 for future members. All screenings are held at the Cinema Art Theater located at 17701 Dartmouth Drive in Dartmouth Plaza, behind the Lewes Wawa.
