‘Everyday Wonders’ art collection at Back Porch June 19-21

June 16, 2018

"Everyday Wonders," a vibrant collection of recent paintings by Rehoboth Beach artist Patricia A. Cassidy, will be on display from June 19 to July 21 at The Back Porch Cafe, 53 Rehoboth Ave., Rehoboth Beach.

"Color, energy, light and sound continually vibrate and dance around us, varying in pattern and sequence. This is the beauty that enriches our everyday life. That's what I've tried to capture in these paintings – the play of sunlight on water, on the landscape of another's face, in our natural surroundings," Cassidy said. "I hope these paintings will reveal the everyday wonder that's always there, but that our eyes don't always see."

Cassidy is a frequent contributor to the Rehoboth Art League and to AAL shows at the Torpedo Factory Arts Center in Alexandria, Va. Her paintings also have been featured in the Rehoboth Beach Writers’ Guild's monthly Art in the AM programs. A more complete list of her shows can be found at Cassidystudio.com.

Cassidy's commercial career includes editorial, graphic arts and illustration work at Time-Life Books, National Geographic Books and Civil War Magazine, as well as art education. A native New Yorker, she recently made Rehoboth Beach her home, after residing in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area and Virginia's Shenandoah Valley. Her art studies in the New York metropolitan area include the New York Academy of Art, the Art Students League of New York, Queens College, and Nazareth College. She also studied art at George Mason University and the Corcoran School of Art, and in private studios of notable painters, printmakers and sculptors.

Recent public projects include a large painting for the Pediatric Unit at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, and the stained-glass window designs for Advent Church in Arlington, Va. Her portraiture is on display in the permanent collection of Virginia's Clarke County Courthouse. Cassidy welcomes artwork commissions.
