‘Maudie’ to be screened at Cinema Art Theater beginning July 21

July 20, 2017

Starting Friday, July 21,  the Rehoboth Beach Film Society's Cinema Art Theater will present "Maudie." Based on a true story, the drama charts the unlikely relationship that blossoms between two people living at the margins of their small Nova Scotia town.

The reclusive Everett Lewis (Ethan Hawke) hires a fragile yet determined woman named Maudie (Sally Hawkins) to be his housekeeper. Maudie, bright-eyed but hunched with crippled hands, yearns to be independent, to live away from her protective family, and she also yearns, passionately, to create art. Unexpectedly, Everett finds himself falling in love. "Maudie" follows Everett's efforts to protect himself from being hurt, Maudie's deep and abiding love for this difficult man and her surprising rise to fame as a folk painter.

Screening times are 4 and 7 p.m, Friday and Saturday, July 21 and 22; 4 p.m., Sunday, July 23; 4 and 7 p.m., Monday, July 24; 4 p.m., Tuesday, July 25; 1, 4 and 7 p.m., Wednesday, July 26; and 4 and 7 p.m., Thursday, July 27.
