‘Norman: the Moderate Rise and Tragic Fall of a New York Fixer’ to open May 26

May 24, 2017

Starting Friday, May 26, the Rehoboth Beach Film Society's Cinema Art Theater will present "Norman: the Moderate Rise and Tragic Fall of a New York Fixer," a comic and compassionate drama of a little-known man whose downfall is rooted in a human frailty all too easy to forgive - a need to matter.

Always on the lookout for someone willing to pay attention to him, Norman Oppenheimer (Richard Gere), a would-be operator on the outside looking in on New York City's power and money elite, forges an opportunistic bond with Micha Eshel (Lior Ashkenazi), a charismatic Israeli politician alone in New York at a low point in his career. When Eshel becomes prime minister three years later, Norman uses his new connection to leverage his biggest deal yet. Soon his kaleidoscopic plans go awry, threatening an international catastrophe he must struggle to prevent.

Screening times are 4 and 7 p.m., Friday and Saturday, May 26 and 27; 4 p.m., Sunday, May 28; and 4 and 7 p.m., Wednesday and Thursday, May 31 and June 1. Tickets can be purchased at the Cinema Art Theater starting 30 minutes prior to each screening. Admission for a screening is $8 for film society members and $10 for nonmembers. All screenings are held at the Cinema Art Theater at 17701 Dartmouth Drive in Dartmouth Plaza, behind the Lewes Wawa. For more information, go to www.rehobothfilm.com or call 302-645-9095.
