‘Sound of Music’ to open at Delmarva Christian High School March 31

Delmarva Christian Schools will present Rodgers and Hammerstein's “The Sound of Music,”  Friday to Sunday, March 31 to April 2. The show features such theatrical standards as "The Sound of Music," "My Favorite Things," "16 Going on 17," "Edelweiss" and "Climb Every Mountain,” and it remains one of the most beloved masterpieces of modern musical theater.

Delmarva Christian High School senior Abby Johnson will play the postulant from Nonnberg Abbey, Maria Rainer, with junior John DiBonaventure alongside her as Captain Georg von Trapp and sophomore Layne Morris as Mother Abbess. The von Trapp children will be portrayed by junior Megan Bradley, and Delmarva Christian Milton Campus students Amanda McCrea, Evan Murray, Avery Palmer, Ryley Spademan, Isabella Stubbs and Kam Vann. Combined from the high school and the Milton campus, 60 students will participate in the on- and off-stage production.

“The Sound of Music” is under the direction of DCHS Performing Arts instructor Jonathan Douglas with help from DCMC Music Director Katie Chappell, choreography by DCS story coordinator Bethany Ackerman and stage management by DCHS junior LeeAnn McQuay. The production will be held on stage at Delmarva Christian High School's Arts and Athletics Center at 7 p.m., Friday and Saturday, and at 3 p.m., Sunday.
