In the Abstract art reception set at Rehoboth Art League Oct. 21

October 20, 2016

The Rehoboth Art League announced the In the Abstract exhibition will open with a reception from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday Oct. 21.

“This exhibition consists of five components under the overall theme of In the Abstract,” says RAL Artistic Director Jay Pastore. “It consists of abstract works in a wide variety of media, including paintings, printmaking, photography, mixed media works, drawings and jewelry.”

In the Tubbs Gallery will be a juried Rehoboth Art League Members’ exhibition. More than 30 artists submitted works for review. One highlight of this portion of the exhibition is a collection of silver jewelry created by Joan Doran. “I was very pleased that Joan submitted her jewelry for review,” says Pastore. “Each of our members’ showcase exhibitions are designed to allow artists working in both 2-D and 3-D work to participate.”

In the Corkran Gallery will be three exhibitions. Ground Waters by Lewes artist George W. Thompson is one. In his works, Thompson explores the environmental impact of land and water contamination at various locations around the world. Recent linocuts by Lewes artist Mark Harris and Illusions, a photography exhibition by members of the Costal Camera Club who are also members of the RAL, will also be on display.

Towards the Hollow by Morgan Everhart will be on view in the Ventures Gallery. Everhart is a recent 2016 master of fine arts graduate from the LeRoy Hoffberger School of Painting at the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore. Her work explores the uncertainty of location and attempts to understand how formal relationships such as color, gesture and shape mirrors ever-changing perspectives as people move through existence.

These exhibitions run through Sunday, Nov. 27. For more information, go to www.rehobothartleague.org or call 302-227-8408.
