No practices require people to leave their homes
August 23, 2017

State agriculture officials are warning the public of a scam where people are impersonating farmers and pesticide applicators in an effort to get people to leave their homes unattended.

There are no pesticide spraying practices in Delaware that would require someone to leave their home, state officials said.

The scammers state people must leave the house for 12 hours while nearby crops are sprayed. The Department of Agriculture cautions homeowners not to open the door to unfamiliar people, pay attention to surroundings and report suspicious people to local police.
