Anthony J. ‘Tony’ Schlitter, owned Milton TV shop

Anthony J. "Tony" Schlitter, 85, of Milton, went home peacefully to be with the Lord Sunday, Dec. 10, 2017, at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford.

Tony was born in Ness City, Kan., to the late John and Katherine (Diehl) Schlitter. Anthony was the last surviving member of his 15 siblings.

Tony owned and operated Tony's TV and Appliance Center in Milton from 1966-2009 with his wife and son.

Mr. Schlitter was a member of the Milford Church of God, and had a passion for winning souls for the Lord. He was involved with prison ministry, as well as witnessing and praying for the lost. Tony was a fundraiser volunteer with Deborah Heart and Lung Center. He was a lifetime member of the Full Gospel Businessmen's Fellowship and graduate of Kenneth Hagin Ministries. Tony, as well, was very civic minded, and was active in his community volunteering with the Jaycees, Kiwanis Club and the Milton Lions Club. He was honorably discharged after serving in the U.S. Marine Corp during the Korean War and was a 70-year member and past commander of American Legion Post 20.

In his spare time, Tony enjoyed playing tennis and bowling. He was also an avid fan of the Baltimore Colts and St. Louis Cardinals.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Loretta (Reed) Schlitter; one son, Michael Schlitter Sr., and wife Kathy T. of Harbeson; three grandchildren, Ashley S. Webb and husband John, Matthew Schlitter and Michael Schlitter Jr.; three great-grandchildren, Clover and Drake Webb and Charlotte Schlitter; his cat, Noel; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

A funeral service will be held at noon, Thursday, Dec. 14, at Milford Church of God, 500 N. Walnut St. Milford, with visitation after 11 a.m. Burial will be in Henlopen Memorial Park, Milton.
