Applebee's fundraiser for Alex's Lemonade Stand runs through July 30

June 27, 2017

Applebee's Neighborhood Grill + Bar restaurants in the Eastern Shore region will team up with Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation to take a stand against childhood cancer in a month-long, nationwide fundraising campaign. Since 2005, Eastern Shore Applebee's restaurants have contributed more than $171,336 of the $7 million raised nationally to fund childhood cancer research. The six Eastern Shore locations have teamed up with other Applebee's locations across the nation with the goal to raise $1 million this year alone in support of children battling this disease and their families in neighborhoods across the country.

The foundation was established in 2005 to continue the mission of 4-year-old Alex Scott, who while fighting her own battle against cancer, set up a lemonade stand to help raise money to find a cure for all childhood cancers. The Rose Group, an Applebee's franchisee which owns and operates 56 Applebee's locations including those in the Eastern Shore region, initiated this partnership 12 years ago among its local stores and to date has raised over $3.5 million dollars for ALSF.

"We are proud to have shown our support for Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation for 12 years now," said Jeff Warden, CEO of The Rose Group. "This is a cause that is very important to our community and unites our team. We look forward each year to seeing our guests come out for this cause and are very excited to be a part of the movement."

"Applebee's has been a valued partner since the start of the foundation," said Liz Scott, co-executive director, Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation and Alex's mom. "We are very thankful for the commitment and contributions from Applebee's team members and guests which all help to make my daughter's wish of finding a cure closer to coming true."

Now through Sunday, July 30, guests can visit Applebee's restaurants in the Eastern Shore region to support Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation in the following ways:

  • Purchase lemon-shaped pin-up cards in $1 and $5 increments
  • Get a bounce back card for a free lemonade or free kids meal for donations of $5 or more, redeemable at local Applebee's restaurants Monday, July 31, through Thursday, Aug. 31
  • $5 donors will also be entered to win free Applebee's for a year
  • Purchase a Summer Squeeze, Lemonade Quencher, frozen or flavored lemonade refreshment to have 25 cents donated back to the foundation.
