May 15, 2017

Aquacare Physical Therapy recently welcomed Kelly Fortner, MSPT/Pelvic Floor Clinical Specialist, to its Millsboro clinic in Oak Orchard Medical Plaza and its Seaford location. Fortner is originally from Easton, Pa., and worked alongside Dr. Robert Echenberg, a world-renowned gynecologist specializing in pelvic pain. She always knew she wanted to work with people, and when she became a physical therapist she knew she was right at home. It became even better when she began to specialize in Women's Health Physical Therapy. Working with patients with very intimate and private issues is very challenging yet incredibly rewarding when helping them overcome large hurdles in their lives.

Fortner received her bachelor of science in clinical science with a minor in psychology from Ithaca College. She went on to receive her doctorate in physical therapy from Ithaca in 2008. She has been practicing physical therapy for nine years with a specialty in women's and men's pelvic health for the past eight years. She has a true passion for working with patients with pelvic pain, urinary or fecal incontinence, pre/post-partum pain or dysfunction, constipation, etc. She earned a Certificate of Achievement in Pelvic Physical Therapy from the APTA and is working toward her Certificate of Achievement in Pregnancy/Postpartum. Fortner also works with all orthopedic conditions. She has training in movement impairment syndromes, soft tissue and myofascial techniques, and visceral manipulation.

Fortner strives to make the patient experience a special one. She makes sure to treat everyone like family and get them back to their normal function as quickly as possible.
