Artesian Resources Corp. awarded for highest blood bank participation

October 20, 2017

Artesian Resources Corp., a leading provider of water and wastewater services, and related services on the Delmarva Peninsula, recently celebrated its 15th consecutive year of successful participation in the Blood Bank of Delmarva's Summer Blood Challenge, a friendly competition among businesses and organizations to recruit the most blood donors and blood bank members. This year, Artesian was awarded first place for high donor participation in the small employer category that recognizes companies with 101-299 employees.

Artesian employees rallied for their second on-site blood drive Sept. 20 to round out the summer challenge that ran May 18 to Sept. 23. In addition to providing on-site donations, employees also actively recruited friends and family members to donate blood at Blood Bank of Delmarva locations throughout the Delmarva Peninsula.

The Blood Bank of Delmarva provides blood and blood products to 16 hospitals on the Delmarva Peninsula which benefit from the stable blood supply. The demand for local blood donations from nearby hospitals significantly increased during the summer months and recently reached critical levels after the devastating events of hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria.

"Artesian employees have long been committed to this annual event and to helping the Blood Bank in its mission to provide the community with an adequate supply of blood. With the tragic weather events in Texas, Florida and Puerto Rico, we are proud to have so many dedicated employees responding to the call to action, donating blood that saves lives inside and outside of our community," said Dian C. Taylor, president and CEO of Artesian Resources.
