Artist Alexis Lavine sets workshop in Rehoboth Oct. 27-29

September 24, 2016

Award-winning artist Alexis Lavine will offer a three-day watercolor workshop, Painting Creatively from Photographs, from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27 though Saturday, Oct. 29 in Rehoboth. Lavine, a signature member of the Transparent Watercolor Society of America and six other professional societies including the Baltimore Watercolor Society, has received high praise for her paintings of luminous color, rich shadows and beautifully drawn shapes. Lavine is a studio and plein air painter who lives and paints in central North Carolina, except during the winter when she migrates to the Virgin Islands.

This workshop will focus on painting from photographs in a creative, personal and expressive way. There will be daily demonstrations and critiques, and ample student painting time. Demonstrations will include specific lessons designed to give students new ideas, methods and inspirations for working in this manner. Lavine is an enthusiastic instructor who gives her students a sound background in technique and esthetics, encourages them to express their individuality through their art and helps them to relax and enjoy their artistic pursuits.

This workshop is for all levels, from beginners to experienced. Space is limited, so sign up right away. Cost for Delaware Watercolor Society members is $330 and $375 for nonmembers. The location is The Glade Clubhouse at 16 Glade Farm Drive, Rehoboth Beach.
