Artist reception with Marian Osher July 14 at Gallery 50

July 8, 2017

Gallery 50 Contemporary Art and Frame Shop presents Time Out for the Beach, an exhibit of work by Marian Osher. An opening reception with the artist will be held from 5:30 to 8 p.m., Friday, July 14. The exhibit will run through Tuesday, Aug. 1.

This solo show mirrors everyone's favorite beach activities with friends and family. Colorful mixed-media acrylic paintings celebrate treasures of the beach - people, shells and surf. These paintings combine sand, shells, photo collage and sculpted, painted canvas shells in multidimensional art that breaks the surface of the canvas.

Osher says, "I hope that these paintings serve as a reminder that it is important to make time in our lives to relax, to play and to spend time by ourselves and with other people in a natural setting. This time-out helps to renew our energy, enhances our well-being, and refreshes our creativity."

Osher, a painter, printmaker and mixed-media artist, describes herself as an avid beachcomber and people watcher. Time Out for the Beach is her 25th solo show, and her first solo show at Gallery 50. Included in the show are 20 new paintings created this year. These mixed-media paintings are inspired by Rehoboth Beach, Bethany Beach and other Delaware seashore beaches, including 3 R’s.
