Attend March 12 meeting to protect transgender children

March 10, 2017

This is a cry for help. It is a shout out for support from those who have no voice. The transgender children of Delaware are being singled out and forced to use bathrooms that do not conform to their authentic identity.

Despite recent laws passed in Delaware to protect LBGTQ people, our schools still discriminate. It has come to my attention that these children have "special bathrooms." Just like Rosa Parks, these children only want to live normal lives. They do not wish to be singled out and should not be treated any different from other children.

The purpose of this meeting is to come up with a plan of attack to combat this school-sponsored bigotry. We are also seeking to add a regular program of outreach and education. This will be a new group not politically connected to any other group. Although it is being posted on the Rehoboth Trans Ladies meetup site it has no sponsors, no political structure and only benefits the children and parents of Delaware schools.
We are seeking the input of all people of LBGTQ persuasion. We strongly request the input of educators, health care, mental health providers, parents, friends and especially school board members and administrators.

Please come and join us for an evening of conversation, organization and fellowship at the Metropolitan Community Church of Rehoboth Beach, 19369 Plantation Road, http://www.mccrehoboth.org/. The meeting starts at 7 p.m., Sunday, March 12. Information can also be found at https://www.meetup.com/Rehoboth-Trans-Ladies/events/?action=new#venue or by contacting Kathy Carpenter Brown at KathygirlCarpenter@gmail.com.

You do not need to RSVP but participation in our meetup is always encouraged. The RTLs do not discriminate. Our site is free and open to all who wish to support our community. Sign up to stay in touch for events in our area or if you wish to start your own meetings we will help you do so.
