Author Rita Nelson to share story of transgender daughter Nov. 9

The Rev. Rita B. Nelson will share highlights of her journey with her male-to-female transgender daughter at 7 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 9, at St. Martha's Episcopal Church, Bethany Beach.

Nelson published "Always Kristen: A Memoir" earlier this year with the subtitle "A Mother's Journey from 'It's a boy' to 'Mom, I'm a girl.'"

Nelson is a retired Episcopal priest who has served locally as well as elsewhere in Delaware and in Florida. She was past secretary-treasurer of the Episcopal LGBT organization Integrity, and she served on the governor's Child Placement Review Board.

Nelson's book is available locally at the South Coastal, Rehoboth and Lewes libraries, and is for sale at Bethany Books, Browseabout Books in Rehoboth Beach and at Amazon in paperback and on Kindle. The author will sell and sign books after the talk. Purchase price is $15.
