Barbara B. LaFlamme, retired school teacher

Barbara B. LaFlamme, 84, of Millsboro, formerly of Rockville, Md., passed away Sunday, Sept. 17, 2017, at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes.

Barbara was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., May 31, 1933, daughter of the late Ernest E. Biermeyer and the late Loretta (Smith) Biermeyer. She graduated from Lady Cliff College in Highland Falls, N.Y. Barbara was an elementary school teacher for 26 years at St. Jude Elementary School in Rockville, until her retirement in 1992.

Mrs. LaFlamme was a member of the Embroidery Guild, Mary Mother of Peace Catholic Church and the Ladies Auxiliary at Beebe Healthcare. She was an avid reader and lived an active lifestyle before her illness four years ago.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Andrew LaFlamme in 2005; and an infant son, Paul Edward LaFlamme in 1959. She is survived by a daughter, Monique L. Fitzhugh and her husband John of Severn, Md., a son, Peter Andrew LaFlamme and his wife Adelaide of Elizabethtown, Ky.; three grandchildren, Simone LaFlamme of Elizabethtown, Andrea LaFlamme and her husband Karl Schmidt of Regensburg, Germany, and Oliver LaFlamme of Elizabethtown; a great-grandson, Thomas LaFlamme; and a sister, Loretta Biermeyer of Millsboro.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Sept. 29, at Mary Mother of Peace Catholic Church, 30839 Mt. Joy Road, Millsboro, where friends may gather after 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial contributions in Barbara's name to Mid-Sussex Rescue Squad, 31738 Indian Mission Road, Millsboro, DE 19966.
