Barbara Faucett Niemann, interested in genealogy

October 29, 2017

Barbara Faucett Niemann, 89, of Willow Valley Lakes Manor, Willow Street, Pa., died Monday, Oct. 23, 2017, at The Glen at Willow Valley.

She was the widow of Edward Niemann Jr., with whom she celebrated 63 years of marriage.
She was born Sept. 15, 1928, in Lewes, to Benjamin and Elizabeth Weimer Faucett.

Barbara graduated from Georgetown High School in Georgetown, and attended Women's College of the University of North Carolina in Greensboro and the University of Delaware. She resided in the King of Prussia area for 42 years before moving to Willow Valley in 1999.

Barbara's children, her husband, and her family and friends were everything to her. At Willow Valley, Barbara and Ed were surrounded by many wonderful people. As a young mother, Barbara was very involved with the activities of each of her children. She was loved by her children and grandchildren for her generosity and support and great cooking (and for providing a favorite gathering place near her kitchen).

Upon Ed's retirement in 1987, Barbara and Ed acquired a consuming interest in genealogy, traveling to the UK, Germany and Switzerland. For many years they spent the late winter with friends they met on Maui. In their spare time they enrolled in more than 60 Elderhostels.

Barbara is survived by her children Edward (Suzy), Nancy (Ronnie Riha), Janet (Glen Tryson) and Donald (Anna Marie); three grandsons, Gregory (Stefanie) and Robert (Samantha) Tryson and Andrew Niemann; stepgranddaughter Molly (Todd) Camp and their son Alex; great-grandson Owen Tryson; sisters-in-law Ida Faucett and Betty Lohr; cousins Pete and Wilmetta; and many wonderful nieces, nephews, cousins, and their children. Older of two, she was predeceased by her brother Linford.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Nov. 4, in the Thomas Auditorium at Willow Valley Lakes Manor, 300 Willow Valley Lakes Drive, Willow Street. Visitation will be at 10 a.m., with a service at 11 a.m. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Barbara Niemann to the Willow Valley Team Member Education Fund and/or the Mathias J. Brunner Nursing Education Fund, Attn: Bookkeeper, Willow Valley Retirement Communities, 300 Willow Valley Lakes Drive, Willow Street, PA, 17584, or the charity of your choice.
