Barbara J. Pettit, retired cafeteria worker

Barbara J. Pettit, 82, of Laurel, passed away Monday, Aug. 22, 2016, at her home. She was born April 29, 1934, in Rehoboth Beach, the daughter of Harry and Laura (Ewing) Clendaniel.

Mrs. Pettit worked for many years in the cafeterias of Rehoboth Elementary and junior high schools. Her love of the outdoors included fishing and gardening. Above all else, however, she cherished time spent with her loving family.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Pettit was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edwin Henry Pettit; and her daughter, Cheryl Mitchell.

She is survived by her daughter Jacqueline Mitchell; and two granddaughters: Meghan Holston and Haley Mitchell.

Services will be private. Arrangements handled by Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes.
