Barbara Jane Powalski, had deep-rooted faith

Barbara Jane Powalski, 84, of Milton, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family Friday, Oct. 20, 2017.

Barbara was born in Wilmington, Aug. 28, 1933. Barbara was the daughter of the late Harry O. and Regina Kline, who both passed in 1997. She graduated from St. Elizabeth’s High School in 1951. Barbara was very devoted to the Catholic Church and had a deep-rooted faith.

She worked in retail for many years, while rearing a family. Her commitment to her family was unwavering. In her retirement years, she was an active member in her community, participating in a seniors club and her favorite...the Milton Garden Club. She enjoyed traveling, swimming, sewing, baking, and had a very fond love of the beach. Barbara will be most remembered for being a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Kathy.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Alexander ‘Paul’ Powalski of Milton; brother,Harry O. II and Joan Kline of Hockessin; brother Bernard and Pat Kline of Millsboro; sister, Jeannie and Stan Nedwick of Fenwick Island; sister Rhoda Domenic of Milton; brother Joseph and Deannie Kline of Lincoln University, Pa.; son, Paul and Sharon Powalski of Millsboro; daughter Charlene and David Saienni of Landenberg, Pa.; son Kenneth and Margaret Powalski of Jim Thorpe, Pa.; daughter Sheila Powalski and Ben Carlson of Newark; daughter Lorraine and Brian Goodman of Bear; eight grandchildren, Katie, Jessica Paul Michael, Brandon, Matthew, Brett, Ryan and Bradley; and 12 great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Thursday, Oct. 26, at 11 a.m., in the chapel of St. Jude the Apostle Church, 152 Tulip Dr., Lewes. A private interment followed at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro.

The family suggests that memorial contributions should be made in Barbara’s name to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
