Barbara A. Mills, devoted to family

Barbara A. Mills, 80, of Millsboro, formerly of Newark, passed away Saturday, Nov. 25, 2017, at the Seaford Center in Seaford. Barbara was born in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., May 24 1937, daughter of the late Andrew Thier and Veronica (Mitroka) Thier. She was a homemaker, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Barbara was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 9 in Georgetown, and was a past member of the Elks and the Indian River Yacht Club. She enjoyed making and selling ceramics, playing cards, traveling and playing the slot machines at the local casinos.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Joseph W. Mills Sr. in 1993; and a granddaughter, Amber Ray. She is survived by two children, Joseph W. Mills Jr. and his fiancée Jewell Carpenter of Frederica, and Karen A. Taylor and her husband Michael of Ocean View; three grandchildren, Michael Ray, Andrew Mills and Meghan Mills; two great-granddaughters, Alexis Ray and Mia Snyder; and her two best friends, Pat White and Barbara Watson.

An Order of the Eastern Star Service will be held at noon followed by the funeral service Thursday, Nov. 30, at the Long Neck Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 32013 Long Neck Road, Millsboro, where friends and family may call after 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Conley's Chapel Cemetery in Angola.
