Bayhealth announces new names for health campuses

Bayhealth celebrates 20 years of healthcare
May 4, 2017

Bayhealth officials are celebrating the 20-year anniversary of the merger between Kent General Hospital and Milford Memorial Hospital, which led to the Bayhealth system and an expansion of health services in Kent and Sussex counties, with a new organizational naming system to unite Bayhealth facilities.

Bayhealth officials announced April 11 the Kent campus will now be known as Bayhealth Kent Campus with the hospital named Bayhealth Hospital, Kent Campus. The new health campus being built off Route 1 in Milford will be known as Bayhealth Sussex Campus, with the hospital called Bayhealth Hospital, Sussex Campus.

Bayhealth Milford Memorial Hospital on Clarke Avenue will continue with its name until the opening of the Bayhealth Hospital, Sussex Campus in 2019, a press release states.

“The use of Bayhealth campuses and Bayhealth hospitals is important because it reflects the fact that Bayhealth is a system that brings more than a hospital to our communities,” said Bayhealth President and CEO Terry Murphy. “We bring comprehensive ambulatory, diagnostic and outpatient care, as well. We are proud of the legacies that Kent General and Milford Memorial have provided for our communities both before and after the merger.”

Bayhealth patients and visitors will see naming structure changes over time. This may include updated language on signage, correspondence and marketing materials, and the names of some Bayhealth Medical Group physician offices. For more, go to www.bayhealth.org.
