Beacon soccer downs Millsboro 4-3, shuts out Smyrna 3-0

The Beacon Middle School soccer squad squeaked by Millsboro 4-3 Oct. 17, then poured it on Smyrna 3-0 Oct. 19 at Beacon.
Gary Hayes tallied two goals and teammates Tiarnan Heffernan and Mikey Frederick scored one, as the Beacon Middle Vikings held on to defeat visiting Millsboro 4-3. Nate Loucks made 10 saves in goal against the Knights.
Heffernan, a seventh-grader, hit the back of the net with two goals against Smyrna, while Christian Newbold put one past the Eagles’ goalkeeper. Hayes had two helpers and Danio Somoza-Lima assisted on one. Loucks made five saves in the contest.
The Beacon Vikings travel to Fifer Middle School Monday, Oct 24. to take on the Riders.
