Beginner mosaic workshops start Feb. 4 at RAL

January 20, 2017

Mosaic is one of the oldest and most enduring art forms, dating back to 5000 BC, when mosaics were constructed out of colored pebbles. Today mosaic artists work with cut ceramic and glass tiles. The Rehoboth Art League's two-day workshop, Beginner Mosaic Techniques, will cater to those who wish to learn the beautiful craft of mosaic and create their own works of art.

The workshop will be offered Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 4 and 5, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and also Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 18 and 19. Students ages 18 and up will learn to design a stepping stone, how to cut ceramic and glass tiles to fit their project, and to use color theory to make their design stand out. They will be introduced to different substrates on which to mosaic and leave the workshop with a unique 12-inch-square stepping stone. The cost for the two-day workshop is $175 per person.

Registration is required. To register go to www.rehobothartleague.org or call 302-227-8408, Ext. 112. The class will be held in the Chambers Studio at the Rehoboth Art League at 12 Dodds Lane in Henlopen Acres.

The Rehoboth Art League is a nonprofit organization dedicated to making art accessible to all. This program is made possible, in part, by a grant from the Delaware Division of the Arts, a state agency, in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts. The division promotes Delaware arts events on www.DelawareScene.com.
