Bellydancing draws Lewes Steps Out for Fitness crowd

July 18, 2011

At the July 14 sign-in for the 2011 Lewes Steps Out For Fitness, 87 people registered their steps for the two-week period.  This was the second sign-in for this year's fitness campaign. The second sign-in produced 10,721,800 steps which translates into 4,289 miles. A total of 87 walkers signed in with 12 people signing up for the first time. After sign-in, many of the registrants walked to the Canalfront Park in Lewes where they joined Viviana Matthews of The Yoga Studio for a bellydancing demonstration and workout.

The next sign-in event for Lewes Steps Out For Fitness will be Thursday, July 28, at 5:30 p.m. in the public parking lot at Lewes Beach. First-time registrants receive a free pedometer and special card to count and record their steps.  Second time-registrants receive a free Lewes Steps Out water bottle.

The Lewes community is seeing how many miles it can rack up - how many times it can cross the United States on the American Discovery Trail - through the fitness program.  Those who attend the sign-in events and then walk to the Canalfront Park for various fitness activities also get a ticket for a drawing for prizes such as dinner for two at local restaurants.

At the July 28 sign-in event, Quest Fitness will present a dodge ball demonstration along with other playground games. At the final sign-in event on Thursday, Sept. 8, a special drawing will be held for those who have attended all the sign-in events and there will also be a huge bonfire as well as entertainment and refreshments.
