Betty Jeanne Linthicum, retired comptroller

Betty Jeanne Linthicum, 89, of Rehoboth Beach, passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 21, 2018, at Brandywine Senior Living in Rehoboth Beach. She was born in Washington, D.C., the daughter of the late Robert Emmett O'Brien and Elizabeth V. (Franklin) O'Brien.

Betty graduated from Richard Montgomery High School in 1947, and lived most of her life in Wheaton, Md. She worked as the comptroller for a real estate developer in Montgomery County for over 35 years before retiring, and later moving to her home in Rehoboth Beach in 2005. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who cherished her family above all. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Betty was predeceased by her parents, Emmett and Elizabeth; and her sisters, Pat, Joan and Mary Louise. She is survived by her children: Deborah Smith (Dean), and Michael Linthicum (Richard Garcia); her granddaughters, Stacie Smith (Matthew Hallowell), and Meghan Sylvester (Mark); and her great-grandson, Dominic Sylvester.

Services will be private. Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Lewes.
