Betty Marie Fuller Guyer, active in community

Betty Marie (Fuller) Guyer, 87, of Milford, passed away peacefully Saturday, Sept. 9, 2017, at Milford Center.

Betty was born in Wilmington, daughter of the late Edward, Sr., and Mary Genevieve (Hobbs) Fuller.

Betty worked as a sales clerk with Woolworth Company in Wilmington for many years. She was very involved and active in the lives of her children and grandchildren. Betty enjoyed cooking and shopping at thrift stores. She had a love for volunteering and started the Reach Out clothing program at Calvary U.M. Church. She was also an active volunteer with the Milford Senior Center, Milford Little League, Cub Scouts and Campfire Girls.

In addition to her parents, Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Guyer; and two brothers, Edward Fuller Jr., and Paul Fuller.

She is survived by four children, Marianne Wink and husband Terry of Lincoln, Dianne Calhoun and husband Jimmy of Georgetown, Jerry D. Guyer and wife Karen of Ellendale, and Lester Guyer and wife Dawn also of Lincoln; seven grandchildren, Timothy Wink, Eric Wink, Brad McPherson, Kristy Parsons, Jessica Allshouse (Travis), Katy Carlsward (Guy) and Rebecca Guyer; seven great-grandchildren, Colby Wink, Christopher Wink, Brent McPherson, Brendon McPherson, Cody Parsons, Gage Carlsward and Arabella Allshouse; two sisters, Ruth Mills, of Milford and Delores Lewicki of Wilmington; and one brother, Harvey Fuller of New Castle.

A funeral service will be held at noon, Friday, Sept. 15, in the chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 NW Front St., Milford, with visitation after 10 a.m. Burial will be in Henlopen Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Carlisle Fire Company, and/or the  Ladies Auxiliary, PO Box 292, Milford, Del 19963.
