Beverly Ann Spragg, registered nurse

Beverly Ann Spragg, 88, of Lewes, formerly of Earleville, Md., passed away Sunday, Sept. 18, 2016, at Cadbury Senior Life Styles, Lewes. She was born Sunday, Sept. 9, 1928, in Wilmington, daughter of the late Elwyn B. and Esther (Draper) Gehman.

Mrs. Spragg was a registered nurse, and worked for various hospitals before settling at Christiana Hospital in Newark. At Christiana she worked in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, retiring in 1994 after more than 20 years of dedicated nursing. Mrs. Spragg was an active parishioner and volunteer of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Earleville. She also volunteered at the local schools for Head Start testing and voting booths for numerous elections.

In her free time, Mrs. Spragg enjoyed needlepoint, knitting, traveling and reading. As an avid bridge player, she could often be found playing at the Middletown Senior Center. Mrs. Spragg was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and dear friend who will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Spragg was predeceased by her beloved husband, Paul A. Spragg in February, 2013. She is survived by her two daughters: Vicki Sadowski and her husband Jim of Lewes, and Carolyn Spragg of Port Townsend, Wash.; her sister, Dorcas Taylor of Wilmington; and her two grandchildren, Eric and Rachel Sadowski.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, Sept. 23, at 11 a.m., at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 10 Glebe Road, Earleville, where friends may visit beginning at 10 a.m. Interment will immediately follow services at St. Stephen's Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Lewes.
