Bikes stolen in Lewes

November 9, 2017

Lewes police are asking residents to secure their property and stay vigilant after bicycles were stolen off Savannah Road.

On Oct. 30 or 31, two Cannondale bicycles were stolen from a home off Savannah Road; a beach bike was also stolen about a block away, said Lewes Police Chief Thomas Spell.

Over the past two weeks, Spell said, there have been several other incidents of bicycles stolen from private property. Bicycles stolen were unlocked and unsecured on the property, he said.

“The police department is asking residents to properly secure their bicycles and any other property in an effort to deter the thefts,” Spell said. “Anyone observing suspicious persons or activity is urged to call 911 or the police department immediately.”
