The 2017 Boardwalk Buddy Walk was held Oct. 7 at the Bandstand and Boardwalk in Rehoboth Beach. The walk was the highlight of the Buddy Fest Weekend which included a Buddy Walk party Friday and the Buddy Walk Saturday. Local restaurants and businesses joined in the Buddy Fest by offering discounts for walkers and contributing portions of the day's receipts. Approximately 1,500 participants from throughout the East Coast helped to raise funds. Since 2006, the mission of the Boardwalk Buddy Walk has been to create a community where people with Down syndrome, or any cognitive disorder, can live, learn, work, and play.
