Burton on target with 100-foot buffer

June 22, 2018

Sometimes all of us need reminding that if we care about an issue, we also need to speak up and ask others to do the same.

Our legislators cannot just stand alone on an issue. I am leading up to the issue of setbacks from our waterways and the proposal for 100 feet as the standard instead of the woefully inadequate required 20 feet.

The critical need to protect our waterways is apparent daily as the news tells us of drastic flooding because the water has nowhere to go. So far our area has been spared, but could be better prepared through long-range planning. We need the space for the ability for water to be filtered and retained as possible. Two or three more houses on a site cannot compare to the saving of the whole.

I am speaking up in support of the proposed 100-foot set-back that I. G. Burton is proposing. He must not stand alone. Stand with him.
