Buy or trade?

July 28, 2016

This week on ESPN's Mike and Mike show I listened to a discussion about the possibility of eliminating the kickoff because of worries about concussions sustained during this part of the game. I think this actually is a good idea if anyone can come up with a better way.

In all of the conversation that day, no one brought up a legitimate way to do this. Eliminating the kickoff for football would be a huge change to the dynamic of the game and I think it will take a lot more debate before a solution is found. It's almost as drastic as it would be to eliminate the pitcher from baseball, or telling a golfer that they can no longer hit a tee shot because of the danger it might impose. You can see that I think this is an unrealistic goal but will enjoy the debate.

The PGA Championship is being held this week at Baltusrol Golf Club in New Jersey. This is a very historic and difficult golf course that has hosted US Opens in the past. Phil Mickelson won the PGA there in 2005 with a four under par score. Typically, the PGA Championship is known for extremely low scores. Jason Day won last year with a 20 under par at a much easier course. This won't be happening this time. This course is very unique because it ends on two par five holes. The weather forecast for the likely chance of thunderstorms which will only make it more challenging.

In unfortunate tennis news, Roger Federer is out for the year with a knee injury. I hope he will return next year for the full year to try and win another major tournament.

I'm anxious to see what the Phillies do this week as it's now time for trades because with them being way out of contention, they will be trading not buying.
