Cancer Support Community to honor Dr. Peri at 10th anniversary celebration Sept. 24

Patient listings and sponsorships available for commemorative booklet
September 11, 2016

The Cancer Support Community Delaware will host its 10th Anniversary Celebration from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24. This special reception will be held at the home of honorary chairs Doris and Alan Lehman and will feature light fare and entertainment provided by The Problematics.

For the past 10 years in Sussex County, the Cancer Support Community has empowered cancer patients by providing resources to address the emotional, physical and financial hurdles they face after receiving a cancer diagnosis. Through participation in professionally led support groups, educational workshops and mind/body classes, people affected by cancer learn vital skills that enable them to regain control, reduce isolation and restore hope regardless of the stage of disease. Support programs focus on family and loved ones, as well as on the person with cancer. All programs and services are offered at no charge to participants.

In addition to recognizing CSCDE’s decade of providing vital cancer support services in Sussex County, this event will honor Dr. Srihari Peri, medical director for medical oncology, Tunnell Cancer Center. Peri has been a vocal advocate for the Cancer Support Community Delaware and has demonstrated extraordinary concern for the welfare and care of his patients and their families. In recognition for his humanitarian works and deeds that have served to dramatically improve the quality of life for so many in the local community, CSCDE will be honoring Peri with the 2016 Cancer Support Community Humanitarian Award.

There are a number of ways the community can support this event. To attend the celebration, there are two levels of event tickets available. At the Benefactor Level, the cost per person is $75 and includes a listing in the commemorative booklet. Tickets at the Friend Level are $50 per person. Former and current patients of Peri may show their appreciation by purchasing a patient listing in the commemorative booklet for $10. There are other options for creating messages in the commemorative booklet, as well. For more information, or to purchase tickets or create a commemorative message, contact the Cancer Support Community at 302-645-9150 or go to www.cscde.org/anniversary. All proceeds will benefit the Cancer Support Community and its ongoing effort to provide help, hope and healing to people affected by cancer and their families in Sussex County.
