The 15th annual Cannonball 5K Run held Sept. 10 at the Lewes Historical Society complex in downtown Lewes was won by 26-year-old Jeff Young of Bryn Mawr, Pa., in a time of 18:08.

Jeff had won the Bottle & Cork 10-Miler the previous morning. Jeff’s parents Tim Young (22:24) and Sheila Young (28:26) also ran in the race.

“Most races have family members in the same race,” said Race Director Tim Bamforth. ”We’ve had races where multiple family members have won age group titles and a few where a husband and wife have been overall winners. “

Rounding out the top five were Martin Rodriguez in 18:22, Jeff Murray in 20:41, Karl Cover in 20:56 and Susan Dunn in 21:42. Women joining Dunn on the leaderboard were Keren Rams in 23:56, Barbara Skates in 24:17, Jennifer Palacio in 25:06 and Brittany Croll in 26:16.

Keeping with the family theme, Cole Huxtable, 8, 34:38, and Delaney Huxtable, 7, 37:05, both won 9-and-under age-group trophies.

Siblings Beau Croll, 23:51, and Brittany Croll, 25:16, won the 30-34 age group.

The 70-and-over age group for males had 10 finishers, led by Tim Abbott, 71, of Georgetown in 23:54. He was followed by Gene King, 74, in 26:23 and Bill McArthur, 77, in 30:59.

Sherri Wright, 72, was the overall winner in the women’s 70-and-over category in 33:50.

The next Seashore Striders race is the Udderly Fun Mooo-Run Ultimate Farm 5K at 9 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 23, at Hopkins Farm Creamery.
