Cape boys’ lacrosse looks forward to 2018 season

March 9, 2018

The Cape boys’ lacrosse team is looking to reload their roster in 2018 after losing 14 players to graduation last season.

“Right now, we’re trying different players in different positions on the field,” said Cape head coach Mark D’Ambrogi. “There’s going to be work to be done on both ends of the field. We have an experienced bunch of shorties [middies and attack] and have solid potential in a lot of areas. The key is to just work hard and play smart lacrosse.”

The Vikings were 14-5 in 2017 and made the trip to the DIAA state championship game with Sallies.

The Vikings are rotating players to find the best spot where the team will benefit from their talents.

“In years past, we’ve had experience come back in certain positions,” said D’Ambrogi. “This year is kind of no different than any others. We’re working some guys through and anticipating that we’re going to have some experienced players probably changing positions to make that position stronger.”

Cape will host a play day Saturday, March 10. The Vikings open the season on the road with Stephen Decatur Thursday, March 22, and open their home season with The Bullis School Monday, March 26.
