Cape boys’ lax fares well in Blue-White All-Star Game

Vikings play major role in White win
June 16, 2017

Cape’s Erik-Stephane Stancofski scored twice, Holden Kammerer added a goal and two assists, and Dillon Mocci caused three turnovers to lead the White squad to a 12-9 win over the Blue team in the 2017 Delaware Lacrosse Foundation Senior All-Star Game June 13 at Wesley College’s Scott Miller Stadium.

Cape’s usual archenemy Caesar Rodney provided key teammates in this game, and the Riders’ Jacob Copio didn’t disappoint the CR fans as he had three goals for the White team. CR midfielder Jacob Pangle scored two goals, while defender Jacob Mollohan added a goal.

“Being two competitive rival programs, there's always animosity and trash talk when we're in season because our games tend to be high-stakes,” said Cape’s Stancofski. “It was cool to play this game with them on our team and get to know them. They're good players and good guys.”

All-star games usually have a sense of bittersweet finality associated with them when teammates are together on the field of battle for the last time.

“It was nice to go out on a win with Erik and Dillon since the season didn't end the way we wanted it to,” said Kammerer. “We realized this game was just one more chance to have fun with each other, so we tried to make the most of it.”

“It was really fun,” said Stancofski. “The game didn't have any strings attached, so we just went out and played. Having one last game together was great, but we know more of our class should have played in that game.”

Kammerer made first-team all-state defense for the Vikings along with junior face-off specialist Liam Zolper. Stancofski was picked second-team midfield. Luke D’Ambrogi and Brendan Kane were chosen third team. Mocci was named honorable mention.
