Cape campus hustling and bustling first day of practices for fall sports

August 18, 2014

Day one for sports practices is all about what's up and who shows up. History goes on the side on no-shows from athletes who moved away to others who decided surfing was more fun or to save themselves for the basketball season.

But a cursory glance at the number of athletes reveals that the sports of football, field hockey, volleyball, and soccer are all enjoying good numbers as coaches are hoping they don't have to make cuts - their least favorite thing to do.

The real action begins at the end of week one of practice when all teams will have at least one scrimmage in the rear-view mirror.

Cape Gazette photographer Dan Cook traveled the Cape campus catching the flavor of opening day.

Cross country has practice in the evenings.
