Cape girls’ basketball destroys Lake Forest 73-21

February 8, 2018

After a disappointing 60-24 loss to St. Elizabeth in Wilmington Feb. 5, the Vikings outbattled Lake Forest 73-21 Feb. 6 at Cape, putting a damper on the homecoming of Lake head coach and former Cape player Aaliyah Davis.

Sydney Pedersen and Dania Cannon teamed for 43 points to lead the Vikings, while teammates filled in the blanks with 30 more. Grace Aguilar scored 12 for the Spartans.

The Lady Vikings were up 30-10 entering the halftime break. They continued to find cracks in the Spartans’ armor in the second, scoring 31 points in the third period and finishing the game with 11 more and a running clock in the fourth quarter.

Cape’s Nya Jones scored seven, while teammate Cannon added six in the loss to St. Elizabeth.

“The girls responded very well after two very tough road games,” said Cape head coach Lauren Carra. “We are at our best when we play off of our defense as we did in this game.”

The Vikings moved to 8-8 and will travel to Sussex Tech Friday, Feb. 9. The Spartans fell to 6-11.
