Cape girls’ lacrosse rocks Smyrna 18-4 behind triple hat tricks

Vikings face Worcester then South River next two games

The Cape girls’ lacrosse team ran its record to 7-0 April 18 at Champions Stadium with an 18-4 win over visiting Smyrna.

The game was highlighted by hat tricks from Mallory Jones, Annie Judge and freshman Emily Monigle. The team’s leading scorer Alia Marshall sat out the game to rehab a sprained ankle.

Cape’s other nine goals came from Lola Messick with two and single goals from Katie Frederick, Lindsay Monigle, Meredith Lockwood, Anna Stancofski, Riley Spinelli, Kaylie Truitt and Christina Benson.

Lindsay Monigle established a personal record seven assists in the game. Emily Monigle and Riley Spinelli also recorded assists.

Smyrna goals were by Emma Mayew and Juliana Kolakowski, each with two.

Vienna Iacona had five saves for Cape, while Vivian Lynn added two.

Katelynn Porter had 10 saves in goal for the Eagles, who dropped to 1-5 on the season.

The Vikings travel to play Worcester Prep (6-1) Saturday, April 21, with junior varsity action starting at noon, followed by the varsity game. Cape will host South River (8-1) at 4:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 24. There is no JV game.

“We look forward to tough competition right in the middle of the season,” said coach Lindsey Eichner. “We are a deep team looking forward to tough tests – it’s always been that way with this program. We are always working to get better. Both Worcester and South River are having great seasons. It should be fun.”

Cape’s JV team ran its record to 7-0 with a 19-1 win over Smyrna. The score was 12-0 at the half.

Cape’s goal scorers were: Haley Craig with five; Riley Keen with three; Alexandra Best, Caroline Maull, Cammy Baldwin and Katie Knarr with two each; and single goals from Samantha Loper, Sky Dunmyer and Lindsay Rambo.
