Cape girls fall to Tech 39-47

Poor fourth quarter dooms Vikings
January 6, 2018

The Cape Henlopen girls’ basketball team fell to 3-3 on the season with a lackluster performance Jan. 2 at home.

“Everything we could’ve done wrong tonight, we did,” said Cape coach Lauren Carra. “Our shot selection wasn’t good; our defense wasn’t good. Defensively, we saw a rerun of the Padua game, where we got into foul trouble. Because of the foul trouble, we were scrambling to put people in the game into positions that they are not comfortable playing. At this point, with upperclassmen, when the game is on the line like it is, I don’t expect to have to be in that position. But I don’t quite think we’ve got to that point yet. Obviously, there was a lapse tonight.”

Cape’s Niya Mosley led the Vikings with 11 points. Teammate Dania Cannon added eight and Alexis Watkins chipped in seven.

Janiya Stevens scored 19 for the visiting Ravens, which moved to 6-0 on the season. Airelle Parker, Jayla Mullen and Camille Scott each had eight.

The Ravens were set to host Milford Thursday, Jan. 4, while the Vikings host Indian River Friday, Jan. 5, in a varsity doubleheader with the boys.
