Cape Henlopen Educational Foundation announces new officers

August 4, 2016

Cape Henlopen Educational Foundation has elected a new slate of officers for 2016-17. Jeff Gordon is president, Rick Grier-Reynolds is vice president, Bob Harman is treasurer, and Barbara Anderson is secretary.

Gordon replaces Founding President Grier-Reynolds, who has served since CHEF's incorporation as a nonprofit in 2007. For the past two years, Gordon has been board secretary and chair of the Communications and Public Relations Committee. He retired from PECO in 2013 and served on numerous nonprofit boards during his career. "It's an honor to follow Rick Grier-Reynolds, CHEF's founding president, who has made CHEF the most active public school educational foundation in Delaware," said Gordon.

Grier-Reynolds has managed CHEF's development as a strategic partner of the Cape Henlopen School District. As vice president he will help manage fundraising and organizational development. In the community, Grier-Reynolds is chair of the board of Cadbury at Lewes, co-chair of the board of Delaware Alternatives to Violence Project and treasurer of the Latino Restorative Justice Initiative.

Harman has been CHEF treasurer since 2012. He holds an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business and has helped CHEF improve its financial management systems. He chairs CHEF's finance committee and serves on CHEF's governance and allocations committees and is treasurer of Rehoboth Beach Main Street.

Anderson recently joined the CHEF board. Before moving to Delaware, she served on the Southern Chester County Medical Center fundraising board and volunteered with the American Diabetes Association in Wilmington. She is president of Barbara Anderson Designs, a full-service design company, and is part owner of a new venture, Driftwood Designs.

Since 2007, CHEF has provided over $250,000 in educational enrichment grants to the Cape District for teacher and Excellence grants, STEM-related programs, arts programs and character development initiatives. Now in its 10th anniversary year, CHEF is dedicated to inspiring learning and helping prepare students for success in a diverse and global society. For more information, go to www.chef-cape.org.
